Chinese Theme Park Deploys Over 300 Humanoid Robots

Chinese robot manufacturer AgiBot has initiated the operation of over 300 autonomous robots at the Chimelong Spaceship Park in Zhuhai.

The large-scale deployment, the biggest of its kind, features humanoid robots interacting with park visitors, particularly families. These robots are capable of playing table tennis, performing martial arts, guiding tourists, and checking guests into hotel rooms.

Developed in collaboration with Chimelong Group and China Mobile, the robot fleet is designed to integrate embodied AI into the visitor experience. AgiBot states this deployment serves as a large-scale experiment to gather crucial data on robot performance in real-world, unpredictable environments.

The project aims to advance humanoid development and understanding of human interaction, vital for future applications ranging from hospitals to supermarkets. This Chinese deployment positions the country ahead in the global robotics race, with China already being a significant global supplier of humanoid robots.

Furthermore, the deployment could revolutionize the theme park visitor experience, offering a more interactive and dynamic environment compared to traditional, programmed animatronic characters. AgiBot's robots operate autonomously on the park's walkways and in hotels, without constant supervision or restricted areas.
