Secure Justice, an Oakland-based group, recorded 90 cities and counties ending their relationship with Flock in August 2026 alone, a fourfold increase compared to the previous month.
The trend of contract terminations has significantly increased, with a total of 214 cities and counties having ended their agreements with Flock Safety since 2021. The latest figures from August indicate an accelerating pace of contract cancellations.
Communities, including Lansing, Michigan, and Pflugerville, Texas, have ended their contracts with Flock citing concerns over unchecked surveillance, data sharing practices, high expenses, and reports of police misconduct when using the tool.
Secure Justice has been documenting cities that have severed ties with Flock. The 90 contract endings in August represent a substantial surge compared to the prior month, suggesting growing dissatisfaction with the company's services.
