Citroën revives 2CV van with electric powertrain
Citroën has unveiled an electric version of its classic 2CV Fourgonnette van. The new model is based on a previously shown 2CV concept car and emphasizes utility.

Automaker Citroën has revealed an electric iteration of its historic 2CV Fourgonnette van at the Paris Motor Show. This new model builds upon the previously presented 2CV electric concept car, with modifications made to accommodate cargo space at the rear.
The new Fourgonnette retains the front-end design of the 2CV concept, while the rear section has been converted into a rectangular cargo area. Access to the cargo space is available through the rear doors or a side-opening hatch. The original 2CV Fourgonnette was produced from 1951 to 1978 and was a popular choice for small businesses.
Citroën has not yet confirmed if the new Fourgonnette will enter mass production. The standard 2CV concept is estimated to cost around €15,000, with the van variant potentially being priced lower. The anticipated low price point suggests a limited battery capacity, though the vehicle is intended primarily for short urban trips.
Details regarding the interior design remain undisclosed but are expected to align with the 2CV concept's aesthetics, likely featuring a simplified and more functional layout. CEO Xavier Chardat remarked that the original model possessed a "soul," and the company aims to reintroduce that spirit into the new electric version.
