City National Bank Expands Financial Education Program for LAUSD Students
City National Bank is investing over $1.3 million to expand its financial education program for Los Angeles Unified School District students. The initiative comes as California prepares to make financial literacy a graduation requirement.

Los Angeles, CA – City National Bank announced a renewed three-year investment exceeding $1.3 million to broaden its Dollars + Sense® financial education program for high school students in the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD). This expansion coincides with California's upcoming mandate for financial literacy as a high school graduation requirement.
The investment will enhance access to the program through the Everfi platform, providing digital courses, educator training, workforce readiness experiences, and scholarship opportunities. The initiative aims to equip students with practical financial knowledge and skills necessary for making informed decisions about their futures.
California is set to require a semester-long personal finance course for graduation beginning with the Class of 2031. City National Bank has partnered with LAUSD and the Everfi platform for over eight years, delivering financial literacy education to thousands of students.
The program has demonstrated tangible results, with over 17,000 students across 137 schools participating in the 2025-26 academic year. Student self-reported confidence in areas such as budgeting, evaluating purchases, and managing credit has shown significant improvement.
