Clarios, a specialist in advanced low-voltage battery solutions, along with Swedish sodium-ion innovator Altris and European battery manufacturer InoBat, announced on September 14, 2026, a new phase of progress in developing sodium-ion battery technology. The companies stated that successful customer evaluations and cold-cranking performance validated down to –40°C support the transition from validation to pilot-scale and small-series production.
This advancement aims to bring sodium-ion batteries closer to industrialization for low-voltage and high-power applications. The collaboration focuses on creating a more cost-effective and sustainable alternative to traditional lead-acid batteries, particularly for automotive uses where cold-weather performance is critical.
