Clarivate Sells Life Sciences & Healthcare Segment for $600 Million

Information services company Clarivate has agreed to sell its Life Sciences & Healthcare segment to investor group Aaron for approximately $600 million. This strategic divestiture aims to sharpen Clarivate's focus on its core AI-driven intelligence offerings for the Academia & Government and Intellectual Property segments.

The transaction is expected to enhance Clarivate's financial profile by deleveraging its balance sheet and improving its revenue mix toward higher-margin, less capital-intensive businesses. The proceeds will be used to reduce debt and strengthen the company's financial flexibility.

This move signals a shift for Clarivate, prioritizing its capabilities in artificial intelligence and data analytics for academic institutions, government bodies, and intellectual property management. Industry analysts suggest this divestment will allow Clarivate to better concentrate resources on areas with higher growth potential.

The deal is anticipated to close in the third quarter, subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals. Clarivate had previously indicated its intention to explore divestitures of non-core assets as part of its broader strategic review initiated in February.
