Reports from technology news outlet IT Home indicate that Anthropic's new AI model, Claude Opus 5, has been subjected to a significant data leak. The system prompts, which are the core instructions that guide the AI's operation, were allegedly published on GitHub shortly after the Opus 5 model's debut.

The leaked data consists of over 13,500 characters and approximately 19,000 English words, forming the foundational system prompts for the model. An analysis of these prompts reveals a multifaceted document that includes detailed instructions for the AI's tool usage, adherence to legal and ethical guidelines, and guidelines for promoting its own services.

The prompts are structured into three main categories: a product manual detailing over 30 tools such as command-line interfaces and web scraping capabilities; a legal and compliance handbook outlining rules on copyright, child safety, and political neutrality; and a channel for promoting Anthropic's own products, like Claude Code and Cowork.

A significant portion of the leaked information concerns the model's memory functions. The system includes strict protocols on what user data can be stored and how, emphasizing that only explicit user statements should be recorded. The prompts also limit how the AI can refer to its own suggestions or user-provided information, aiming to prevent the creation of unrealistic memories or an anthropomorphic sense of dependence.
