Clicks, a company co-founded by veteran tech journalists Michael Fisher and Kevin Michaluk, has introduced its Power Keyboard, aiming to revive the physical keyboard for smartphones. The accessory seeks to blend the tactile experience of older devices with modern smartphone technology.
The Power Keyboard is a standalone, battery-powered Bluetooth keyboard that attaches magnetically to iPhones with MagSafe and Qi2-compatible Android phones. It slides out on rails to position below the phone's screen. The device features a 47-key backlit layout, including a dedicated number row, a feature often absent on earlier physical keyboards.
With its 2300 mAh battery, the Power Keyboard can also function as a power bank. It can connect wirelessly to up to nine devices, including tablets and smart TVs, offering versatile text input capabilities beyond just smartphones.
The Clicks Power Keyboard provides a physical typing alternative to on-screen keyboards, freeing up screen space for content. While it increases the overall thickness and weight of a smartphone setup, it appeals to users seeking the efficiency and feel of a traditional keyboard.
