Clinical trial shows survival benefit for lung cancer treatment with sacituzumab tirumotecan
Phase III trial data presented at ESMO 2026 indicates that sacituzumab tirumotecan extends median survival in lung cancer patients by 8.5 months compared to standard chemotherapy.

New clinical data from the OptiTROP-Lung04 study, presented at the 2026 ESMO conference, demonstrates that sacituzumab tirumotecan significantly improves outcomes for patients with lung cancer. Patients treated with the therapy showed a median overall survival of 25.9 months, compared to 17.4 months for those receiving standard platinum-based doublet chemotherapy.
The findings highlight a 31% reduction in the risk of death, with 54.1% of patients in the treatment group surviving at the two-year mark, versus 37.2% in the chemotherapy control group. These figures suggest a meaningful advancement over existing therapeutic benchmarks.
These results provide clinical evidence for the efficacy of sacituzumab tirumotecan in oncology care. The study outcomes are expected to influence future clinical guidelines for lung cancer management as practitioners look to replace or supplement traditional chemotherapy options.
