Clivet Unveils New Cooling Technology for AI Data Centers
Midea's brand Clivet presented its next-generation magnetic-bearing centrifugal compressor and full-chain liquid cooling solution. The technology addresses the cooling demands of rapidly expanding AI data centers.

Midea's brand Clivet unveiled its next-generation magnetic-bearing centrifugal compressor and a full-chain liquid cooling solution at the OCP Global Summit in San Jose, California, on October 15, 2026. These solutions are designed to meet the escalating cooling requirements of AI data centers, which are demanding increasingly higher capacities.
Clivet's presentation at the "GW-Scale Open AIDC" forum focused on architectural innovations for next-generation AI data center cooling. The company received the "2026 GW-Scale Open AIDC Excellent Technical Presentation Award" for its work. The presented technology centers on a novel magnetic-bearing centrifugal compressor aimed at enhancing both efficiency and reliability.
The new compressor solution addresses three key challenges in data center cooling: wide-range efficiency, seamless transitions between free cooling and mechanical cooling, and space efficiency for equipment. Clivet has developed a compressor featuring independent dual-shaft variable-speed drives that can operate in either single-stage or two-stage modes as needed.
This approach allows for up to 40% lower compressor power consumption for the same cooling capacity. It also improves airflow in low-pressure conditions by approximately 70%. The system's ability to initiate operation in single or two-stage modes ensures uninterrupted cooling and rapid recovery after power interruptions. Clivet states the solution offers significant improvements in data center energy efficiency and operational continuity.
