CME Group Achieves Cloud Migration Milestones
CME Group has reached key milestones in its ongoing cloud migration, including initial performance tests for its CME Globex platform. The exchange is accelerating its infrastructure upgrade in partnership with Google.
Derivatives marketplace operator CME Group announced significant progress in its cloud migration initiative. The company has completed initial performance testing for its CME Globex trading platform in the cloud, achieving faster trading round-trip times.
The construction of the Aurora Cloud Region and its associated co-location facility has been completed ahead of schedule. This facility will host Google Cloud's specialized platform designed to support trading on CME Group's markets. The Aurora region is targeted for client testing in mid-2027, supplementing the Dallas disaster recovery facility which has been open for testing since June 2026.
CME Group plans to migrate its livestock markets to the cloud via the Aurora Cloud Region in late 2027. An interim relocation to Dallas is no longer required under the revised timeline.
"We are very pleased to be making faster than anticipated progress on our transition plans to migrate our markets to the cloud," said CME Group Chairman and CEO Terry Duffy. He noted that due to the accelerated timeline for the Aurora Cloud Region and strong initial performance testing, the company expects to deliver its first cloud-based solution for ultra-low latency trading sooner than planned. Clients will have access to both Google Cloud-managed services and co-location capabilities in Aurora by late 2027.
