CMOs Plan Significant Investments in Generative AI
BCG research indicates 71% of CMOs plan to invest over $10 million annually in generative AI over the next three years, focusing on content, video, and personalization.
A significant majority of Chief Marketing Officers (CMOs) are set to increase their investments in generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) over the next three years, according to new research from Boston Consulting Group (BCG). The study reveals that 71% of CMOs plan to allocate more than $10 million annually to GenAI initiatives.
The primary areas targeted for these substantial investments include content creation, video production, and personalization efforts. This trend highlights a growing optimism among marketing leaders about AI's transformative potential within their functions.
"Those CMOs investing in tools and talent are the ones rewriting the playbook," stated Lauren Wiener, a BCG researcher involved in the study. She emphasized that upskilling employees is crucial for unlocking the full value of generative AI technologies.
The findings, also discussed in publications like Forbes and Marketing Dive, are detailed in BCG's report "How CMOs Are Scaling Gen AI in Turbulent Times." The research underscores a strategic shift towards AI adoption as CMOs navigate current market dynamics.
