China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) has initiated the construction phase of its inaugural offshore wind power project, Xuwen Dong Er. The first large steel pipe pile was precisely installed on the seabed on September 4, marking the substantive commencement of the project's offshore main structure construction.

The installed steel pipe pile is the longest single pile for this project, requiring extremely high installation accuracy with a vertical deviation not exceeding 3‰. The project team optimized construction plans and strengthened coordination among various parties to ensure the efficient and seamless installation of the first pile, laying a solid foundation for subsequent batch pile driving and main structure advancement.

The Xuwen Dong Er offshore wind project has a planned installed capacity of 300 megawatts and will feature 21 offshore wind turbines, each with a capacity of 14.3 megawatts, along with a 220 kV offshore booster station. The development supports the construction of a 10-gigawatt offshore wind power base in western Guangdong.

Upon completion and operation, the project is projected to supply 1.034 billion kilowatt-hours of green electricity annually. This is expected to save approximately 299,900 tons of standard coal and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 797,700 tons. The project is significant for promoting the development of the 10GW offshore wind power base in western Guangdong and optimizing Zhanjiang's new energy industry structure, contributing to local economic transformation.
