Coach Integrates Music and Culture to Engage Younger Consumers
Fashion brand Coach is leveraging music and social media in a campaign that attracts a younger generation and drives sales.

Fashion brand Coach is shifting its focus to a younger consumer demographic, particularly Gen Z, by integrating its products with music and cultural trends. The brand's fall campaign, "Live Your Story," utilizes the music platform Spotify and real-world events to create connections with potential customers.
At the heart of the campaign is the "Courage Frequency" feature on Spotify, which generates a shareable playlist and a "Courage Sign" based on a user's listening history. This sign directs consumers to events, such as a tour where concert tickets and branded bags are distributed. Actress Elle Fanning is featured in the campaign, driving a tour bus that stops in various cities and universities, also offering opportunities to meet artists and customize products.
The strategy aims to re-establish Coach as a relevant brand that resonates with young people on their own terms. The brand has recently increased its visibility by incorporating athletes, celebrities, and social media influencers who are seen using Coach products.
The campaign's financial impact is evident. Coach's parent company, Tapestry, reported in August that Coach's revenue grew 24 percent for the fiscal year and 15 percent in the fourth quarter. Approximately 11 million new customers were acquired, with about 35 percent belonging to the Gen Z demographic. The company also increased its marketing investments to support the campaign.
Coach's approach involves joining the cultural conversation and leveraging existing trends, such as music consumption and social media sharing, rather than forcing its products onto consumers. This strategy has proven effective in reaching and engaging new, younger customers.
