Cognizant Expands AI-Focused Workforce to 15,000

TEANECK, N.J. – Cognizant announced plans to significantly expand its specialized workforce, aiming to certify 5,000 "Frontier Certified Engineers" and 10,000 "Frontier Business Operators." This initiative is designed to provide the human and operational infrastructure businesses need to translate AI capabilities into tangible results.

The first cohort of these certified professionals is expected to be available by the fourth quarter of 2026. Cognizant also intends to establish a talent pipeline by directly hiring from U.S. and international universities, training graduates in its Frontier approach.

This expansion addresses what Cognizant identifies as a critical gap between AI investments and realized business outcomes—a gap estimated at $4.5 trillion. The company argues this challenge is not due to a lack of computing power but rather a deficit in skilled personnel and processes capable of delivering results. Ravi Kumar S., CEO of Cognizant, stated that this talent pool focuses on end-to-end accountability for results, moving beyond mere technology implementation.

The Frontier workforce is designed to be model and cloud-agnostic, integrating with a client's existing technology stack. This approach ensures solutions are tailored to specific customer challenges, rather than being constrained by proprietary platforms. This allows clients to achieve measurable results and manage risks more effectively during the shift towards outcome-based services and a new era of human capital.
