CoinShares Reports Bitcoin ETF Outflows, Strategic Buys Slow
US spot Bitcoin and Ether ETFs experienced significant outflows over the past week, while Bitcoin's price remained flat. CoinShares' Bitcoin strategy purchases have slowed.
US spot Bitcoin ETFs and Ether ETFs faced substantial capital outflows in the past week, impacting the broader crypto market sentiment. Bitcoin's price remained largely unchanged over the last two weeks, sitting approximately 33% below its October 2025 peak.
CoinShares' own Bitcoin strategy significantly slowed its acquisition of new Bitcoin at the start of October. While the firm added 334 BTC, its subsequent purchase was only 250 BTC, the smallest of the year. Concurrently, CoinShares allocated considerably more capital towards repurchasing its own shares. The company's cash balance has decreased, though it retains remaining buyback capacity.
The tokenized equities market continued its expansion, with several entities like ICE and Securitize launching new offerings. On the regulatory front, the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) proposed new custody rules, and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) sought feedback on leveraged cryptocurrency trading.
Economically, US employment figures fell short of expectations, reducing the likelihood of immediate interest rate hikes. However, inflation expectations and longer-term yields continue to rise, creating market uncertainty. Elevated oil prices and potential supply chain disruptions add to broader concerns.
