Colas awarded €70 million contract for LAX taxiway reconstruction
Colas, via its US subsidiary Sully-Miller Contracting Co., has secured a €70 million contract to reconstruct sections of Taxiway A and F at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). The project is scheduled for completion before the 2028 Olympic Games.
Colas, through its US subsidiary Sully-Miller Contracting Co., has been awarded a €70 million contract by Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) to reconstruct the westernmost mile of Taxiway A and a portion of Taxiway F at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). The project aims to upgrade critical airside infrastructure at one of the world's busiest aviation hubs.
The reconstruction of Taxiway A, a vital artery for cargo operations supporting over 2.4 million metric tons of freight annually, is slated for 2027. Work on Taxiway F, situated between two active runways, will commence in early 2028. Both phases are targeted for completion ahead of the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games, necessitating efficient coordination with ongoing air traffic.
Sully-Miller's teams are expected to work up to 20 hours per day, six days a week, to meet the project's demanding schedule. This contract marks Sully-Miller's eighth assignment for LAWA in seven years, bringing the total value of contracts awarded since 2019 to over €350 million.
The award underscores Colas' established relationship with LAWA and its expertise in executing complex airport infrastructure projects while maintaining operational continuity. The company has a global portfolio of similar projects, including runway renovations at Paris-Orly and Paris-Charles de Gaulle airports.
