Game developer Cold Iron Studios has shut down the servers for the cloud version of its title, Aliens: Fireteam Elite, on the Nintendo Switch. The decision, announced in March, means players who purchased the cloud-based version can no longer access the game.

Cold Iron Studios has not provided refunds to customers affected by the server closure. According to reports from TheGamer, players have been offered a discount on a potential Nintendo Switch 2 version of the game, which would require an additional purchase.

Aliens: Fireteam Elite, a co-op third-person shooter based on the Alien film franchise, was originally released in 2021. The shutdown of its cloud version raises questions regarding game accessibility and consumer rights within the digital marketplace.
