Collins Aerospace, a division of RTX, and Etihad Engineering have announced a joint venture agreement to establish a new maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) facility in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The collaboration, revealed at the Farnborough International Airshow, will focus on providing MRO services for aircraft nacelles and thrust reversers.

The joint venture is expected to bolster service capabilities for widebody platforms, including the Airbus A350 and Boeing 787, within the Middle East and for international carriers. Collins Aerospace will relocate its existing nacelle MRO operations in the UAE to Etihad Engineering's facility, effectively doubling Collins' MRO footprint in the region. The new 3,250-square-meter facility is slated to become operational in the first quarter of 2027.

Etihad Engineering, part of Abu Dhabi Aviation, is a major provider of aircraft MRO services with extensive expertise in airframe maintenance and component repair. The partnership is designed to complement and expand Etihad's existing service offerings, delivering enhanced nacelle MRO solutions to a broader customer base across the region and globally.

The initiative aims to address the growing demand for nacelle MRO services for widebody aircraft in the Middle East, supporting airlines in reducing costs and improving turnaround times. The new venture will operate as part of Collins Aerospace's global aerostructures aftermarket network.
