Colt Data Centre Services (Colt DCS) and RMZ have commenced construction on their third data centre in Mumbai, India. The project is part of a $1.7 billion joint venture investment aimed at developing data centre capacity across India.
The Mumbai 3 facility, located at the operator's Navi Mumbai Campus, is designed to be AI-ready and will deliver 64MW of capacity upon completion. Ground preparation began in December 2025, and construction is now underway, bolstered by the signing of the facility's first hyperscale client. This development reflects the pace at which the venture has scaled since its establishment.
The data centre is engineered to support intensive AI workloads, featuring advanced cooling capabilities, including liquid cooling, and infrastructure for high-density deployments. It will operate entirely on renewable energy, utilizing a closed-loop cooling system to minimize wastewater. The construction phase is projected to create over 700 jobs.
Mumbai 3 will join Colt DCS and RMZ's existing data centres, Mumbai 1 and Mumbai 2, on the Navi Mumbai Campus. Upon completion, Mumbai 3 will increase the site's operational capacity to 86MW, contributing to the campus's potential total capacity of 148MW. The joint venture has committed to developing 250MW of data centre capacity across Mumbai and Chennai.
