Community Hospice Opens Dedicated Pediatric Center in Jacksonville

Community Hospice & Palliative Care recently hosted an open house for families at its newly opened Dorion Family Pediatric Center in Jacksonville. The facility is the first dedicated pediatric hospice and palliative care center in Florida, serving children with serious illnesses and their families.

The center serves as the home for the Community PēdsCare® program, expanding access to specialized palliative and hospice services. It provides dedicated spaces for therapeutic activities, including music therapy, art therapy, and play therapy, along with support for children and their families. Amenities include a music therapy room, an art room, a sensory playroom, and an outdoor sanctuary.

The opening ceremony was attended by Jacksonville Mayor Donna Deegan and marked a significant step in providing comprehensive care to the region's children and families. Community Hospice & Palliative Care has been providing services since 1979, ensuring no one is denied care due to inability to pay.

The Dorion Family Pediatric Center complements the organization's home-based care by offering a dedicated environment where children can be children and families can find support. The facility is designed to foster healing, play, and meaningful connections.
