Community Ports Nvidia DLSS 5 Model to Games, Boosting Frame Rates Up To 40%
Tech enthusiasts have successfully integrated a newer version of Nvidia's DLSS 5 rendering model into unsupported games. This community-driven mod reportedly increases frame rates by up to 40% without significant visual degradation.
A community project has successfully ported a newer version of Nvidia's DLSS 5 neural rendering model to games that do not officially support the technology. Reports indicate that this modification can boost frame rates significantly, in some cases by 30% to 40%, without a noticeable decline in visual quality.
The modification utilizes an experimental branch, OptiScaler-DLSSNR-PreSR-Multipass. Developers extracted the updated DLSS 5 neural rendering DLL file (nvngx_dlssnr.dll, version 310.9.16.0) from NBA 2K27, the only game with official DLSS 5 support, and applied it to other titles. This new version offers a substantial performance improvement over the previous 310.8.x iteration.
Early testing has shown promising results. One user reported nearly a 40% increase in frame rates in Forza Horizon 6 on an RTX 4060 graphics card. Another test in Resident Evil Village yielded approximately a 30% improvement. Further tests with an RTX 4080 SUPER in 4K resolution showed frame rates climbing from 108 FPS to 150 FPS, a near 39% jump.
While these results are from early community testing, performance gains can vary significantly based on the specific game, hardware, drivers, and in-game scenarios. Potential compatibility issues or minor visual compromises may also exist.
