Companies announce 478 job cuts across media and tech sectors
Hello Sunshine, People Inc., Dropbox, and Front have initiated layoffs as they restructure operations. The cuts highlight ongoing shifts in business models rather than an industry-wide transition to AI.

Four companies—Hello Sunshine, People Inc., Dropbox, and Front—have announced layoffs totaling 478 roles. The departures reflect ongoing structural adjustments within the media and technology sectors as firms rebalance their workforces despite continued investment in growth areas.
Hello Sunshine initiated staff reductions of approximately 50 percent following Reese Witherspoon's re-acquisition of the company from Candle Media. Simultaneously, People Inc. announced the loss of 195 jobs, representing roughly 6 percent of its workforce. CEO Neil Vogel attributed the move to the need for organizational agility in a rapidly changing media landscape, specifically targeting legacy print and web divisions.
Financial data for People Inc. revealed a 2 percent revenue decline to $416.7 million in the second quarter of 2026. While digital revenue grew by 6 percent, it was offset by a 16 percent drop in print revenue. The layoffs contrast with the company's broader hiring strategy, as it continues to seek talent for new strategic initiatives in the coming year.
