Concert Raises 1000 Euros for Kenyan Orphans

A music concert held in Roggenburg at the end of February 2018 raised approximately 1000 euros for the Projekt Schwarz-Weiß organization's efforts to support orphans in Kenya. The event was organized by Musikverein Meßhofen and attended by 120 visitors.

The funds raised are intended for the construction of new classrooms, according to Marcel Dürr. His parents established the "Nice-View-Childrens-Village" orphanage in 1997. Located about a ninety-minute drive south of Mombasa, the village provides a home for 60 orphans. An associated school educates 120 children, with the goal of equipping them for independent lives.

The project's operations require between 150,000 and 200,000 euros annually, primarily sourced from donations and sponsorships. The organization is also working to develop its own revenue streams, including the establishment of a carpentry workshop.

Projekt Schwarz-Weiß stated that state schools offer insufficient guidance for future professional life. Consequently, the association aims to provide orphans and students with better future prospects.

Projekt Schwarz-Weiß e.V. is an aid organization based in Weißenhorn that supports orphans and education in Kenya. Further information is available on the organization's website.
