Congruence Therapeutics presents preclinical data on CGX-195 for AAT deficiency

Congruence Therapeutics presented new research data on its therapeutic candidate CGX-195 at the ERS Alpha-1 Antitrypsin conference on October 23. The data concerns the company’s computationally derived approach to correcting misfolded proteins associated with Alpha-1 Antitrypsin (AAT) deficiency.

The findings indicate that CGX-195 demonstrated the ability to increase the secretion of functional Z-A1AT proteins while reducing the accumulation of polymerized Z-A1AT in cellular assays and PiZ mouse models. These results mark a progression in the company’s preclinical efforts to address the underlying causes of the condition.

AAT deficiency is a genetic disorder that significantly increases the risk of lung and liver disease. Congruence Therapeutics, which focuses on computational drug discovery, is positioning CGX-195 as a potential treatment to restore protein function. The company intends to continue evaluating the candidate based on these outcomes.
