Consideo GmbH releases new game on sustainability challenges
Consideo GmbH has released a new simulation game titled "A Future for All 2: He Who Moves First Loses!". The game aims to illustrate the complexities of achieving sustainable development.

Consideo GmbH, a software company based in Lübeck, Germany, has released a new simulation game designed to educate players on the challenges of sustainable development. Titled "A Future for All 2: He Who Moves First Loses!", the game places participants in various roles, including economy, politics, media, and citizens, within a fictional state.
The game aims to highlight the difficulties in achieving sustainability goals and the interconnectedness of different actors. Players must collaborate to steer the fictional nation towards a more sustainable future, while navigating their individual interests, such as re-election for politicians, profit for businesses and media, and satisfaction for citizens.
Developed by Consideo GmbH, the game builds on their prior research for the German Federal Environmental Agency (Umweltbundesamt). It seeks to demonstrate the inherent dilemmas in current sustainability discussions and emphasize the necessity of collective action.
Several notable figures have commented on the game's potential. Franc Grimm of Consideo described it as a mirror that is "shockingly realistic and illuminating, making one feel caught and directly urged to act." Former German minister Björn Engholm noted its effectiveness in translating philosophical concepts of sustainability into actionable understanding.
Professor Ernst Ulrich von Weizsäcker, co-president of the Club of Rome, and Hans-Werner Hansen, founder of the "ecopolicyade®" competition, have also praised the game for its ability to teach systemic thinking and network analysis. The game is intended for educational purposes, particularly for schools, to foster an understanding of complex global challenges and the importance of collaborative problem-solving.
