Consideo GmbH's GLU Model Examines Global Food Security and Climate Change
Consideo GmbH has developed the GLU (Global Land Use Model) to assess the potential of land use for feeding a growing global population and mitigating climate change.

German company Consideo GmbH has released its Global Land Use Model (GLU), a tool designed to analyze the potential for land use to feed a growing world population and address climate change.
The model, which utilizes data from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), focuses on the capacity of land use to ensure global food security. It also investigates the impacts of deforestation and the utilization of biotic resources on climate change.
Consideo collaborated with the Ecologic Institute on the model's development, aiming to explore the potential of biotic resources as substitutes for concrete and steel in construction.
The model's preliminary findings suggest that, under current conditions (ceteris paribus), the world will not be able to feed its future population. However, orchestrated changes, such as expanding organic farming and reforestation efforts, could lead to carbon dioxide sequestration from the atmosphere.
