Construction Worker Receives $8.38 Million Settlement for Injuries in New York

Parker Waichman LLP announced an $8.38 million settlement for a 43-year-old construction worker who was seriously injured by falling concrete on a New York City job site. The resolution was achieved in New York County Supreme Court after jury selection and opening statements.

The worker was reportedly performing his duties when a piece of concrete fell, striking him in the back. The incident resulted in significant injuries, including a lumbar fracture at L2/L3, multiple herniated discs in his lumbar and cervical spine, and a tear in his left knee.

The lawsuit alleged that the defendants failed to provide a safe work environment and adequate protection against the hazards of falling materials. Attorney Brett Zekowski, representing the worker, stated that his client suffered severe injuries while simply doing his job.

"Construction workers have the right to expect that appropriate safety measures will be in place," Zekowski said. "Our client suffered serious injuries while simply doing his job. We were prepared to present his case to a jury, and we are pleased that we were able to secure an $8.38 million resolution on his behalf."
