Contrinex Sensors Prevent Overloading of Hooklift Truck Lifting Arms
Contrinex Sensor GmbH has introduced rugged inductive sensors to prevent overloading of telescopic lifting arms on hooklift trucks. These durable sensors are designed for harsh outdoor conditions.

Contrinex Sensor GmbH, a manufacturer based in Switzerland, has developed robust inductive sensors designed to prevent overloading of telescopic lifting arms on hooklift trucks. The sensors ensure that lifting operations cannot commence until the arm is fully retracted, thereby preventing equipment damage and human error.
Hooklift systems, commonly used in construction and demolition, utilize a hydraulic telescopic arm with an attached hook. While the systems are semi-automated, drivers must ensure the arm is retracted before lifting a container. Contrinex's "Extreme" series sensors detect the arm's precise position, halting any lifting sequence if the arm is extended.
The sensors are constructed from stainless steel (AISI 303) and feature an IP68/IP69K rating, ensuring resistance to water, mud, ice, and salt. Their one-piece design and vacuum-encapsulated electronics make them suitable for demanding outdoor environments. The 10 mm sensing distance minimizes the risk of accidental collisions between moving parts.
According to Contrinex, these sensors offer a cost-effective and reliable solution, reducing the potential for human error and enhancing operational safety. The sensors are designed for easy installation and maintenance and are compatible with various commercial trucks equipped with hooklift systems.
This technological implementation enhances the operational reliability and extends the lifespan of heavy machinery in challenging outdoor settings, marking a significant improvement over previous manual inspection methods.
