Limassol, Cyprus โ€“ July 9, 2026 โ€“ Cool Carriers, the world's largest operator of specialized reefer vessels, has received Snow Flake, the second vessel in its new generation Snow-class series. The ship was officially named at Kitanihon Shipbuilding in Japan on June 29, three months after the delivery of its sister ship, Snow Flower.

The new Snow-class vessels are designed for the global refrigerated cargo market. Each vessel can safely transport up to 5,000 high-cube pallets of perishable cargo, along with up to 168 refrigerated containers, at a service speed of 18 knots. The vessels incorporate advanced hull and propulsion designs, featuring energy-efficient engines that meet stringent IMO and EU environmental regulations through 2030 and beyond.

Snow Flake and Snow Flower are the first two of seven next-generation Snow-class vessels scheduled for delivery by 2028. The company anticipates one additional vessel joining the fleet later in 2026. This newbuilding program is part of Cool Carriers' long-term fleet renewal strategy, aimed at strengthening its competitiveness in the specialized reefer market.

Cool Carriers will manage the Snow-class vessels as a commercial operator. According to the company, the vessels enhance its position on key refrigerated trade routes, including those from Chile, Ecuador, South Africa, and Argentina. The company serves major refrigerated cargo routes worldwide, supporting resilient cold chain logistics and food supply chains.
