Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners invests EUR 270 million in Scottish battery project
Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) has committed over EUR 270 million to the Kilmarnock South battery storage project in Scotland. The 350 MW project is currently under construction and scheduled for completion in early 2028.

Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) has made a financial investment decision for the Kilmarnock South battery storage project located in southern Scotland. The commitment totals over EUR 270 million, with the project expected to be operational by early 2028.
The Kilmarnock South project is a 350 MW / 1,400 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) with a four-hour duration. Construction is already underway, and the facility is slated for commissioning in early 2028.
CIP states that this investment further strengthens its contribution to the United Kingdom's energy security. The investment is being made through CIP's fourth fund, Copenhagen Infrastructure IV (CI IV).
The Kilmarnock South project will add significant energy storage capacity to Scotland's grid, supporting the integration of renewable energy sources and enhancing grid stability.
