CoreWeave Stock Decline Reflects AI Spending Concerns
Cloud computing firm CoreWeave Inc.'s stock has fallen over 25% in a week amid growing fears of AI spending and sector stability. The company disputes issues.

Shares of cloud computing firm CoreWeave Inc. (Nasdaq: CRWV) have dropped more than 25% in the last week, driven by increasing concerns over the company's debt and the overall health of the 'neocloud' industry.
On Thursday, the company's stock fell as much as 7% in premarket trading as investors continued to express worries about potential overspending on artificial intelligence (AI). This decline followed a 15.46% drop on the previous trading day.
AI-adjacent companies globally are experiencing similar losses. This includes semiconductor firms like South Korea-based SK Hynix and memory technology company Sandisk, both of which saw significant share price decreases.
Broader market trends also show a downturn. Market research firm Gartner has cautioned that over 80% of 'neocloud' providers could cease operations by 2030 due to cost pressures and a lack of differentiating business models, anticipating industry consolidation.
Despite the market downturn, CoreWeave CEO Mike Intrator has stated the company has sufficient backlog to manage its debt, according to Bloomberg. Intrator attributed the stock's performance to market irrationality and competitor weaknesses, asserting confidence in CoreWeave's business model and financial foundation.
