CounterPoint: iPhone 18 Pro China Launch Week Sales Up 12%
Apple's iPhone 18 Pro series saw a 12% year-over-year increase in sales during its launch week in China compared to the iPhone 17 Pro series, according to CounterPoint Research. This performance propelled Apple to the top of the Chinese smartphone market for the week.
The iPhone 18 Pro series experienced a 12% year-over-year sales increase in China during its initial launch week, as reported by market research firm CounterPoint Research. This growth marks an improvement over the iPhone 17 Pro series' debut.
This sales boost enabled Apple to secure the top position in China's weekly smartphone sales charts for the 38th week of the year, capturing a 33% market share. Notably, the iPhone 18 Pro series' sales contribution only spanned three days of that week, from September 18th to 20th.
Counterpoint attributed the strong initial performance to factors including early upgrade demand, channel support, and shifts in competitor pricing. The delayed release of the standard iPhone 18 model may have also influenced some consumers to opt for the Pro models.
The broader Chinese smartphone market has faced a consistent double-digit year-over-year sales decline since July. However, Counterpoint Research suggests that rising storage costs have impacted consumer demand, with expectations of a market recovery following the concentrated new product releases in September.
