Covestro Expands HDI Derivatives Network With Acquisitions in Thailand and Texas
Covestro has expanded its global manufacturing network for HDI derivatives by acquiring two former Vencorex production sites in Rayong, Thailand, and Freeport, Texas.

Leverkusen, Germany – Covestro has expanded its global manufacturing network for HDI derivatives by acquiring two former Vencorex production sites. The transactions, which included facilities in Rayong, Thailand, and Freeport, Texas, were completed on July 1, 2026. These acquisitions are intended to improve supply flexibility and reliability for customers in Asia and North America.
HDI derivatives are key components in high-performance polyurethane coatings, adhesives, and sealants. These materials are used in a wide range of applications, including automotive coatings, infrastructure protection, marine coatings, and furniture finishes, as well as in electronics and other industrial products requiring durable and specialized materials. Covestro stated that the additional capacity will help meet customer demand more effectively and support long-term growth in high-performance and more sustainable coatings and adhesives applications.
The new sites complement Covestro’s existing HDI derivative production footprint across Europe, Asia, and North America. The company indicated that the expanded capacity will enhance regional availability and improve responsiveness to customer needs, which is considered crucial in current market conditions. This move follows Covestro's earlier acquisition of DSM's Resins & Functional Materials business.
Covestro aims to leverage the expanded network to strengthen customer support, enhance regional production resilience, and bolster its capacity to meet future demand for specialized materials. The company seeks to solidify its position in markets where customers rely on regional supply, consistent product quality, and application expertise.
