Cradlewise Secures $12 Million for AI-Powered Cribs

Consumer health and wellness startup Cradlewise, which produces AI-powered cribs for infants, has secured $12 million in a Series A funding round. The round was led by 3one4 Capital and Prudent Investment Management, with the funds earmarked for growth initiatives, research and development (R&D), new sales channels, and international expansion.

Founded in 2017, Cradlewise designs smart cribs that utilize sensors to monitor a baby's movements, sounds, and sleep patterns. The AI system aims to predict wake-up times and intervene to soothe the infant. The company states its technology has learned from over 75 hours of infant sleep data and can reduce parental effort by up to two hours daily.

The newly acquired capital will fuel Cradlewise's plans to broaden product accessibility through online, retail, and partnership channels. Future developments include software-based sleep routines, related child sleep hardware, and more accessible price points, extending the product's relevance beyond infancy.

Cradlewise competes in the smart nursery market with products like SNOO and 4moms MamaRoo Sleep. The company has not disclosed the valuation from this funding round or previous rounds, having previously raised $1 million in 2019 and $7 million in 2021. Concerns have been raised regarding the company's data collection practices, particularly in light of India's Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) rules, which prohibit behavioral monitoring of children, even with parental consent.
