Crédit Agricole Private Equity sells stake in Altrad
Crédit Agricole Private Equity has divested its minority interest in industrial equipment firm Altrad to founder and CEO Mohed Altrad.
Crédit Agricole Private Equity has exited its position in Altrad, selling its minority stake back to the group’s founder and majority shareholder, Mohed Altrad. The divestment follows a five-year investment period that began in 2005, when the private equity arm invested 15 million euros alongside regional investors Sofilaro and Sofipaca.
During the tenure of the partnership, Altrad expanded its international footprint in the building and industrial equipment sectors. Driven by organic growth and strategic acquisitions—including the purchases of Balliauw, Guy Noël, and Belle—the group’s annual revenue grew from 180 million euros to 440 million euros.
Following the acquisition of the shares, Mohed Altrad regains full ownership control of the group. For the private equity firm, the transaction resulted in a 2x return on their initial investment and represents the fourth exit from the FCPR CACI 2 fund.
