Crédit Agricole Selects Gemalto for Mobile Payment Program

Crédit Agricole's Provence Côte d'Azur region is launching NFC-based mobile payments in partnership with Gemalto. The new service is being rolled out in Nice as part of the city's NFC initiative.

10 October 2026

Crédit Agricole's Provence Côte d'Azur regional bank has launched a new contactless mobile payment service in Nice. The service, which utilizes Near Field Communication (NFC) technology, was developed in collaboration with digital security firm Gemalto.

Customers can subscribe to the new NFC mobile payment option through their local branches since January 2011. This allows for purchases at participating retailers within the Nice Côte d'Azur urban community using an NFC-enabled mobile phone.

Gemalto is providing the secure 'Trusted Service Management' services that enable the deployment and secure management of contactless mobile payments, regardless of the network used. Their experience in banking card personalization and remote administration facilitates the convergence of the mobile and banking worlds.

Gemalto has deployed over 35 NFC projects globally. This partnership with Crédit Agricole, expanding on their existing relationship in banking cards, aims to advance the adoption of NFC payments.
