Creatingtec Rapid Manufacturing Limited has initiated the production of kinematic mirror mounts from 316L stainless steel. These components are engineered for precise alignment in optical systems and are intended for demanding industrial applications.
Traditional aluminum mirror mounts often lack the necessary thermal stability and mechanical stiffness for applications such as high-power fiber laser cutting, satellite-based optical communications, or deep-ultraviolet semiconductor inspection tools. 316L stainless steel was selected for its low coefficient of thermal expansion and resistance to physical shock.
Machining 316L stainless steel to required optical tolerances presents challenges, including tool wear, burr formation, and material stress retention. Micro-step variations or localized stress relaxation can lead to alignment instability over time.
Creatingtec addresses these issues by employing multi-axis CNC turn-mill machining and leveraging extensive shop-floor experience. The company's 2,568 square meter facility focuses on Design for Manufacturing (DFM), specifically addressing thread pitch integrity and stress profiles, to ensure long-term stability and performance under demanding conditions.
