CRIF Becomes First Open Banking AISP Registered Across 21 European Countries

CRIF has announced the acquisition of Credit Data Research Realtime Holdings through its subsidiary CRIF Buergel, marking a significant expansion in the open banking sector. This move makes CRIF the first credit information sector player to be registered as an Account Information Service Provider (AISP) across 21 European countries.

The acquired company, renamed CRIF Real Time Ltd., was among the first in the EU to be recognized by the Financial Conduct Authority as an AISP. This acquisition allows CRIF to offer Open Banking services, enabling the exchange of retail credit payment data between consumers and organizations, thereby enhancing transparency in business relationships.

As an AISP, CRIF can now access payment account information with account holder consent. This capability supports the creation of value-added services such as creditworthiness evaluations and personalized financial offers. The initiative aligns with the broader goals of Open Banking to improve financial inclusion and access to credit for individuals and small businesses.

Further strengthening its market position, CRIF has also acquired a minority stake in Credit Data Research Ltd. and Credit Data Research Italia S.r.l. This expansion complements CRIF's existing credit bureau services and positions the company to leverage open banking initiatives across Europe.
