CRRC Completes Production of 110-Meter Recyclable Wind Turbine Blade

CRRC announced the completion of its self-developed, 110-meter high-performance, recyclable wind turbine blade at its facility in Sheyang, Jiangsu Province. The company stated that the blade is designed for efficient material separation and recovery, achieving over 95% recycling of key raw materials.

This development marks a significant stride towards commercial-scale recycling of extremely large wind turbine blades, offering a solution for end-of-life disposal challenges. China's rapid expansion of renewable energy has increased the demand for decommissioning and disposal of older turbines, with thousands expected to be retired in the coming years.

The blade utilizes a recyclable material system featuring a high-efficiency, chemically releasable resin composite. It meets stringent requirements for strength and durability, and its reversible chemical technology allows for efficient separation of resin from reinforcing fibers. The recovered materials, such as resin and fibers, can be reused in new wind turbines, automotive manufacturing, and infrastructure construction.

CRRC has previously invested in circular economy solutions for the wind power industry. In March 2025, the company developed China's first recyclable TMT82 blade, and in April 2025, it launched China's first mobile, intelligent processing system for decommissioned blades, providing a more flexible recycling solution.
