CRRC to Supply Electric Drive Systems to Xiaomi Electric Vehicles
China's CRRC Corporation Limited, a major rail transit manufacturer, has confirmed it will supply electric drive systems for Xiaomi's upcoming electric vehicles. The technology is based on CRRC's experience with high-speed rail.

CRRC Corporation Limited, a leading Chinese manufacturer of rail transit equipment, has confirmed its role as a supplier of electric drive systems for Xiaomi's new electric vehicle line, dubbed "Pengleng." The announcement clarifies previous speculation about the collaboration between the two companies.
CRRC stated that the electric drive systems for vehicles inherit "high-speed rail genes" from the company's experience with trains like the "Fuxing" series. This technology has been rigorously tested over millions of kilometers and includes core expertise in permanent magnet technology, inverter control, thermal management, and high reliability design. CRRC asserts these systems offer stability, efficiency, and durability.
The company also highlighted its position as a top-three third-party supplier of electric drive systems in China. CRRC's drive systems are already incorporated into vehicles from major Chinese automakers including FAW, Changan, BAIC, and SAIC.
The collaboration was revealed as part of Xiaomi's introduction of its new "Kunlun" technology architecture in July, which serves as the foundation for the "Pengleng" electric SUV. CRRC is listed as a key supplier within this architecture, responsible for the front-wheel-drive powertrains.
