Crusoe Developing Data Center Campus in Armstrong County, Texas
Crusoe is developing a data center campus in Armstrong County, Texas, designed to power advanced AI. The facility will leverage local wind energy and focus on water efficiency.
Crusoe, an AI factory company, announced it is developing a data center campus in Armstrong County, Texas. The facility is engineered to provide capacity for advanced artificial intelligence operations and is intended for Google.
The campus, which broke ground in June 2025, is strategically located near abundant, low-cost energy sources. Crusoe's approach involves building AI factories directly at the source of energy to improve the utilization of existing assets and catalyze new energy generation. This energy-first strategy aims to support the region's clean energy buildout.
The campus connects directly to the adjacent Goodnight 1 wind farm (265.5 MW) and has catalyzed the construction of the Goodnight 2 wind farm (265.5 MW). Surplus wind energy is supplied back to the grid, benefiting local ratepayers and reducing curtailment. The facility also employs a closed-loop, non-evaporative liquid cooling system designed to significantly limit water usage.
The project has involved over 5,500 skilled laborers on-site daily, bringing significant investment and employment to Armstrong County. Crusoe is expanding its West Texas portfolio, which includes other data center developments in Abilene.
