Crypto industry spends over $200 million in 2026 midterm election cycle
Cryptocurrency organizations have become the most significant single-issue political donor bloc in U.S. history.

The cryptocurrency industry has poured more than $200 million into the 2026 midterm elections, aiming to secure favorable regulatory frameworks in Congress. According to data from Public Citizen, crypto-affiliated organizations now lead all single-issue super PACs in corporate political spending, outpacing sectors such as data center development.
The industry’s primary electoral vehicle, Fairshake, is backing 33 House candidates, including 19 Republicans and 14 Democrats. The organization is providing a minimum of $1 million in support to six specific incumbents, including members of the House Financial Services Committee, to ensure legislative priorities remain on the agenda.
Coinbase Global remains a major driver of this spending, following significant contributions in the 2024 cycle. Ryan VanGrack, vice chairman at Coinbase, framed the spending as an effort to modernize the nation's financial infrastructure. Industry advocates seek to bypass regulatory stagnation that previously stalled comprehensive market structure legislation in the Senate.
