CTM and Huawei Enhance Macao's Network Security for AI Era
CTM and Huawei are collaborating to bolster Macao's network security in the age of artificial intelligence. The companies presented new secure network infrastructure solutions at the Network X 2026 event.

CTM, a telecommunications operator based in Macao, has announced a collaboration with Huawei to strengthen its network security in the era of artificial intelligence (AI). The company presented its new secure network infrastructure solutions at the Network X 2026 event in Vienna, highlighting the shift from simple connectivity to intelligent, deterministic, and secure networks.
CTM has developed an "intelligent, deterministic, and secure" network infrastructure designed to meet the high reliability and low latency demands of AI. The introduction of AGW and AI BNG (Broadband Network Gateway) functionalities enables dynamic traffic steering towards optimal paths. This is intended to enhance user experience and reduce international bandwidth costs, crucial for AI-driven applications.
The partnership also extends to preparing for the advent of quantum computing. CTM and Huawei are jointly innovating an IP architecture that integrates communication with Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) technology. This aims to provide next-generation security for data transmission in critical sectors and reduce operational costs.
CTM's strategy emphasizes integrating security into the network itself, moving beyond traditional perimeter firewalls. This includes embedding security in devices, offering security functions as a service, and preparing for quantum computing threats. The company suggests these advancements offer a model for other operators transitioning to intelligent and secure networks in the AI era.
