CTM and Huawei Enhance Macau's Network Security with AI
CTM and Huawei have unveiled new AI-driven solutions to bolster network security in Macau. The collaboration aims to create more intelligent and reliable network environments for businesses and authorities.

Macao-based telecommunications operator CTM, in collaboration with Huawei, has presented new AI-powered solutions designed to enhance network security. The announcement was made at the Network X 2026 event, where CTM highlighted its efforts to transition towards more intelligent and deterministic network infrastructures.
The initiative aims to accelerate the digital and intelligent transformation for businesses in Macau. CTM has introduced a new "intelligent, deterministic, and secure" network infrastructure that leverages AI within its Broadband Network Gateways (BNG). These capabilities enable intelligent service recognition and dynamic traffic steering, thereby improving user experience and reducing international bandwidth costs.
The partnership with Huawei also addresses the emerging security challenges posed by quantum computing. The companies have jointly developed a solution integrating IP architecture with Quantum Key Distribution (QKD). This move allows for the validation of quantum-secure technologies and prepares network operators for next-generation data transmission security in critical industries.
CTM emphasizes that future network security planning must extend beyond traditional perimeter firewalls to become an intrinsic part of the network itself. This includes integrated device security using AI-based behavioral analysis and offering security functions as a service, which can be deployed rapidly. These technological advancements offer a blueprint for network operators globally in their transition to smarter and more secure networks in the AI era.
