CureGene Doses First Participant in Phase I Trial of Novel Liver-Targeting Drug
CureGene has administered the first dose to a participant in its Phase I clinical trial of CG-0416, a novel oral liver-targeting THR-β agonist, in Australia.

SHANGHAI – CureGene has completed the first participant dosing in its Phase I clinical trial for CG-0416, an in-house developed, oral liver-targeting THR-β agonist, conducted in Australia. The company reported smooth progress in subject enrollment.
The trial is designed to evaluate the safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics of CG-0416 in healthy volunteers. The drug candidate specifically targets the thyroid hormone receptor beta (THR-β) in the liver, which is implicated in liver diseases such as non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH).
CG-0416's development is part of CureGene's strategy to address unmet needs in liver disease treatment. The company stated that the trial's participant recruitment is progressing as planned.
Phase I trials represent the initial stage of clinical development, focusing on gathering preliminary data on the drug's safety and dosage in humans before proceeding to larger patient populations in subsequent phases.
