CXMT Begins Mass Production of Fifth-Generation DRAM Platform
Chinese memory chip manufacturer CXMT has initiated mass production of its fifth-generation DRAM technology platform, the G5 Platform. The company unveiled the new platform and an accompanying LPDDR5X product lineup at the World Manufacturing Convention.
Memory chip manufacturer CXMT has commenced mass production of its fifth-generation DRAM technology platform, designated the G5 Platform. This advancement utilizes an 11.95-nanometer process technology, enabling a significant increase in chip yield per wafer compared to its predecessor.
The company announced the production milestone at the 2026 World Manufacturing Convention held in Hefei. The G5 Platform employs quadruple patterning techniques to achieve a finer process node and enhance manufacturing efficiency. CXMT reported that the new platform yields at least 50% more dies per wafer than its previous generation.
Concurrently, CXMT introduced a new lineup of LPDDR5X products built upon the G5 Platform. This includes two new 24-gigabit LPDDR5X memory modules, available in 496-ball and 245-ball packages. These components are intended for integration into smartphones and other portable consumer electronics.
The launch of mass production with this new technology platform marks a strategic step for CXMT in bolstering its competitiveness in the global semiconductor memory market. The new LPDDR5X memory products are expected to offer enhanced performance for mobile devices.
