CXMT Starts LPDDR6 DRAM Mass Production for Xiaomi

Chinese memory chip manufacturer ChangXin Memory Technologies (CXMT) has announced the commencement of mass production for LPDDR6 DRAM. The company will supply this new memory technology to Xiaomi for its upcoming 18 Fold foldable smartphone, slated for a September launch.

The initiation of production for these chips follows less than a year after CXMT began mass-producing its previous-generation LPDDR5 chips. The new LPDDR6 memory is expected to enhance data transfer speeds and improve energy efficiency, crucial aspects for the development of high-performance smartphones.

It is anticipated that Xiaomi's in-house Xring O3 processor will also support the new LPDDR6 memory. This integration directly links CXMT's latest memory technology with Xiaomi's next flagship device, highlighting the manufacturers' collaboration in advancing mobile technology.

The pace of memory technology development for mobile devices is rapid, and the introduction of LPDDR6 signals forthcoming improvements in smartphone performance and capabilities.
