CXMT to Introduce Next-Gen DDR5 Server Memory by 2026

Chinese memory manufacturer CXMT intends to release a new generation of DDR5 registered memory modules by the end of 2026. The company plans to leverage its newly developed 4F² DRAM architecture for this product, aiming to enhance storage density.

During an industry conference on October 10, CXMT President Cao Kanyu revealed that server memory will be the initial application for the 4F² architecture. This design reportedly reduces the physical space occupied by each memory cell compared to the industry-standard 6F² architecture. CXMT stated the technology incorporates vertical surrounding-gate transistors and explores hybrid bonding techniques to optimize both memory cells and peripheral logic.

The company has filed over 300 patent families related to this architecture, underscoring its investment in developing new memory technologies. The upcoming DDR5 modules signal CXMT's continued strategic focus on the server memory market, a sector demanding high reliability and continuous operation.

This move represents an expansion for CXMT into server-grade components. The company noted that its server business segment saw increased contributions in the first half of 2026, indicating a shift from its traditional emphasis on consumer electronics memory.
