CXMT to Launch DDR5 RDIMM with 4F² Architecture by Year-End
Chinese memory manufacturer CXMT expects to introduce new DDR5 RDIMM products by the end of 2023, featuring the company's advanced 4F² DRAM architecture for enhanced density.
Chinese memory manufacturer CXMT (ChangXin Memory Technologies) has announced plans to release new DDR5 RDIMM memory modules by the end of 2023. These upcoming products will incorporate the company's proprietary 4F² DRAM architecture, aiming to increase memory density beyond current industry standards.
Dr. Cao Kanyu, President of CXMT, detailed the company's technological advancements during the fourth Integrated Chip and Chiplet Conference. He highlighted the significance of the 4F² architecture, which reduces the physical size of DRAM cells through process optimization. This transition from the prevalent 6F² architecture represents a fundamental shift, requiring entirely new manufacturing processes and device designs.
The development of the 4F² architecture has been a core focus for CXMT since its inception, with substantial investment in research and patenting. While specific details regarding the performance and specifications of the new DDR5 RDIMM modules were not disclosed, their targeting of the server market indicates a focus on high-performance and reliability.
By adopting the 4F² architecture for its initial DDR5 RDIMM offerings, CXMT is positioning itself to address the demanding technical and engineering challenges within the server memory sector. This move could influence the future landscape of server memory technology and supply.
